Miami's beaches are legendary—but not all beaches are created equal. Here's your guide to finding the right stretch of sand for your vibe.
🏖️ South Beach (5th to 15th Street)
The most iconic beach in Miami. White sand, turquoise water, colorful lifeguard towers, and the Art Deco skyline as your backdrop. It's crowded and lively—perfect if you want energy, people-watching, and easy access to Ocean Drive restaurants. Tip: Head south of 5th Street (SoFi) for a quieter stretch.
🏝️ Crandon Park Beach — Key Biscayne
Consistently ranked among the best beaches in the US. Calm, shallow waters protected by a sandbar make it perfect for families. Coconut palms provide natural shade. Parking is $5 per car and fills up on weekends—arrive before 10AM.
🏝️ Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park
At the southern tip of Key Biscayne, this state park beach is uncrowded and pristine. Climb the Cape Florida Lighthouse (the oldest structure in Miami-Dade County), rent kayaks, then grab fresh fish at the Boater's Grill right on the sand. $8 per vehicle.
🌊 North Beach (North Shore Open Space Park)
The locals' beach. Wide sand, no high-rises, and a beautiful park running along the shore. Much quieter than South Beach, with free parking on side streets. Great for jogging, yoga, or just relaxing without the crowds.
🌅 Surfside Beach
A charming small-town beach vibe just north of Miami Beach. The beach is clean and uncrowded, and the town's Harding Avenue has excellent restaurants. Walk to nearby Bal Harbour for luxury shopping after your beach day.
🪁 Haulover Beach Park
A wide, uncrowded county beach with a popular food truck gathering on Tuesday evenings. The northern section is one of Florida's few clothing-optional beaches. Kite surfing is popular here due to consistent winds.
🌅 Pro tip: Miami beaches face east, so mornings give you the best light for photos and the calmest water. Afternoons bring stronger winds and choppier surf. Sunscreen is non-negotiable—the UV here is intense year-round.
